Art, Culture and Information in the Perspective of the 2030 Agenda

    In September 2018 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the 6th Information Seminar on Art was held, with the theme "Art, Culture and Information in the Perspective of the 2030 Agenda". The IFLA President, Glòria Pérez-Salmerón, was the guest of honor of this event, organized by the Network of Libraries and Art Information Centers in the State of Rio de Janeiro (REDARTE/RJ), with the sponsorship and support of the Cervantes Institute of Rio de Janeiro.

      70 years ago today, United Nations Member States signed up to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In doing so, they established a set of principles that underpin any sustainable and successful society. In statements released today, IFLA’s Secretary General, Gerald Leitner, and President Glòria Pérez-Salmeron, underlined the work of libraries in ensuring that all can benefit.

      Delivering the Promise: IFLA Secretary General Urges Support for Copyright Reforms that Benefit South African Libraries, Users

        IFLA Secretary General Gerald Leitner has written a letter to key South African ministers and parliamentarians, urging them to take the final steps necessary to approve a copyright reform that will be good for libraries and good for their users. People with print disabilities will benefit particularly from the ratification of the Marrakesh Treaty that the reforms enable.
