Just before the M&M midterm meeting, Russian State Library invited a “guru of library marketing”, co-author of IFLA Public Libraries Guidelines, Professor , Florida State University (USA) Dr. Christie Koontz to conduct a workshop.
The Estonian Library for the Blind has received two awards for creating a web-based system Veebiraamatukogu (Web Library) which enables to download and stream audio materials.
On the 4th and 5th March 2013 IFLA, in association with the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) hosted a high-level meeting in Mexico City to help prepare the IFLA Trend Report. Ten experts from eight countries were invited to discuss the trends that will affect society over the next ten years, with a particular emphasis on the effects they will have on the information environment in which libraries operate.
The WSIS+10 Review concluded on Wednesday, 27 February with a lively multi-stakeholder debate across a large number of panel sessions. All sessions were asked to produce recommendations to feed into the final UNESCO statement “Information and Knowledge for All an Expanded Vision and a Renewed Commitment”.
A special session of the WIPO Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR) took place from 18-22 February 2013 in Geneva to reach consensus on the draft text of an international treaty on copyright limitations and exceptions for visually impaired persons and persons with print disabilities.
