Just as our individual organic memories and lives are subject to decay and loss, so too our cultural and collective memories, recorded in libraries and archives around the world, must be cared for with vigilance if they are to be retrieved now and in the future.

Working Together: IFLA President-elect speaks at Congress of Southeast Asian Librarians

BSLA programme in Myanmar focuses on partnerships, library development, collaboration

IFLA implemented the Building Strong Library Associations programme with the Myanmar Library Association (MLA) from 2013-2016. The project commenced at a critical time for the country, as the government began a process of ‘opening up’ after 50 years, and concluded in 2016 as a newly elected democratic government took office.
