The IFLA Preservation and Conservation Section and IFLA Information Technology Section invites Librarians, Information Scientists and other interested professionals to submit proposals for the Open Session to be held during the 86th IFLA WLIC, in Dublin, Ireland.
IFLA has published the 2019 Update of its Trend Report. As the latest in a series looking at the key issues and developments that shape the world in which we operate, it offers a basis for reflection and long-term thinking in the field.
The Subject Analysis and Access Section joint with the Knowledge Management Section invite papers on subject access by automated processes, AI and machine learning.
IFLA Journal and IFLA’s Indigenous Matters Section are pleased to announce a call for papers for a special issue focused on theory and practice in Indigenous librarianship. With the potential to transform lives and societies, the importance of Indigenous librarianship, Indigenous ways of research and education, and Indigenous languages. Peer review submission deadline: 30 June 2020
The deadline for IFLA Green Library Award proposals is 31 January 2020.

Drawing on contributions from a survey of members and consultations with Professional Units, IFLA’s Governing Board made important progress towards updating IFLA’s structures in order to provide new opportunities for IFLA’s members to engage in its work.
As the International Year of Indigenous Languages comes to an end, we are happy to share a further example of libraries acting to protect and promote these languages and the communities that speak them. We are grateful to the State Library of Queensland for this contribution.

IFLA, the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, invites bids from IFLA Members to host the 17th IFLA Interlending and Document Supply (ILDS) Conference to be held in September or October 2021. This conference typically runs 2 to 4 days in length, attracts between 150 and 200 delegates, and operates with a budget of approximately EUR 50,000.
On 23 November 2019, UNESCO adopted a recommendation on Open Educational Resources (OER). This marks the culmination of a long effort to which IFLA has contributed from the perspective of libraries. It is with a great enthusiasm that IFLA welcomes this consensus of UNESCO's Member States.
Today is Human Rights Day, the anniversary of the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. To help libraries and others reflect on the state of fundamental rights where they are, IFLA has released its Intellectual Freedom Checklist.
