IFLA joins Sister Organisations in Declaration on the Protection of Cultural Heritage during armed conflicts

    IFLA joined partners from around the world in the Hague to mark 70 years of protecting cultural heritage at a conference hosted by UNESCO and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It is on this occasion that we join sister organisations and fellow founding members of Blue Shield International to reaffirm our calls for the protection of archives, libraries, museums and heritage places during armed conflicts and political instability.

      I am happy to be writing to you to with the latest update on all that is happening at IFLA, and specifically the work of our Governing Board. I would like to acknowledge the positive feedback on these monthly messages from many of our members and volunteers. Thank you for your comments. We are continuing to issue these updates in all IFLA languages, which I hope assists in updating you on key matters.

            This week, IFLA representatives will be taking part in the 4th United Nations Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS). This event, reflecting the unique circumstances and needs of SIDS, will finalise the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS (ABAS), providing a framework for action by the UN and international community to support these countries.
