During IFLA WLIC 2018 in Kuala Lumpur, the IFLA Section CPDWL hosted an open ses-sion with career and professional development coaching for the individual. The set up was a drop-in session where the participants could choose between a variety of coaching areas, i.e. Lifelong learning, IFLA structure and organisation, Professional reorientation, General management skills, Leadership or Health management. All WLIC delegates were welcome to join the coaching session, and 79 participants attended the programme.

The Library and Research Services for Parliaments Section is pleased to invite proposals for short, engaging and inspiring presentations for its open session at the IFLA World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) in Athens, August 2019.
The Acquisition and Collection Development Section is seeking proposals for papers to be presented at the IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Athens, Greece, from August 24-30, 2019. This open program is co-sponsored by the IFLA’s Digital Humanities – Digital Scholarship Special Interest Group. At various points of the Digital Scholarship process, libraries are involved in this work in ways that are specific to their parent institution. In particular, library collections have been increasingly supporting the advancement and progressive expansion of Digital Scholarship during the last decade. Digital scholars work in academic departments, institutional centers and labs, or independently. In many cases, their work may be with large corpora of digital texts, digital images, audiovisual materials, raw data sets, geospatial data, born-digital materials and other types of digital content curated by libraries: content that is either already part of existing library collections or that is proactively acquired by libraries for specific digital scholarship projects.
IFLA has answered the UN’s call for contributions on progress towards WSIS Action Lines and Targets. This process makes connecting all libraries to the internet a key priority. IFLA’s response highlights welcome recognition of the potential of libraries, but also worrying legal trends.
IFLA and EIFL have addressed a letter of congratulation to the Prime Minister of Thailand, following the passage of legislation that will bring the country into line with the Marrakesh Treaty.
