Port Harcourt named World Book Capital 2014

    The city of Port Harcourt (Nigeria) was named the World Book Capital for the year 2014 after the Selection Committee, composed of representatives from the international organizations representing the three major sectors of the book industry and from UNESCO, met on 5 July at the Organization’s Headquarters.

    Protection of cultural heritage: Principles of Engagement will guide IFLA in emergency situations

      The IFLA Governing Board has endorsed Principles of Engagement in library-related activities in times of crisis, conflict or disaster. The principles aim to encourage safeguarding and respect for cultural property especially by raising awareness and promoting disaster risk management and to strengthen cooperation and participation in cultural heritage activities.
