The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) recently conducted two in-person workshops hosted by the Al-Hassan Library at Princess Sumaya University for Technology. The workshops were led by Mr. Walid Al-Badi, Director of the Oman Council Library and an internationally accredited IFLA trainer, alongside Dr. Saif Al-Jabri, Chair of the IFLA MENA Regional Development Committee.

The first workshop, titled “The Role of Managers in Measuring, Evaluating, and Demonstrating the Impact of Library Services,” took place on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. It was attended by eleven library directors, all members of the Center for Excellence in Library Services for Jordanian Private Universities.

The second workshop, “Measuring, Evaluating, and Demonstrating the Impact of Library Services,” was held on Wednesday and Thursday, July 24-25, 2024. This session included twenty participants, consisting of library services staff from the University of Jordan, the Ministry of Education, the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, the Greater Amman Municipality, and Princess Sumaya University for Technology.

The presenters also had the opportunity to meet with the President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Prof. Dr. Wijdan Abu Al-Haija, and the Vice President, Prof. Dr. Bassam Hammou.

Additionally, Dr. Saif Al-Jabri, Chair of the IFLA MENA RDC, held discussions with the Director of the Amman Municipality Libraries and the Director of the National Library Department. During these meetings, he introduced IFLA and explored opportunities for developing the library and information sector in Jordan, as well as potential mechanisms for cooperation.
