ENSULIB has created a template [in ppt] for a "What is a Green Library?" poster. This is intended for use by all kinds of libraries, and can be translated into your own language.
We would like to invite everyone to share their stories /articles / announcements with ENSULIB for publication in our forthcoming newsletter.
On February 27-28 and March 1 2023, the Mid-term Meeting of IFLA Regional Division for Latin America and the Caribbean (IFLA LAC RDC) and the International Advocacy Seminar: "Transformation and Empowerment of Libraries in Latin America and the Caribbean" were held in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The March 2023 IFLA Journal features 15 articles of which 12 represent original research and 3 offer reviews of important topics in the LIS field.
IFLA'S Library and Research Services for Parliaments Section (IFLAPARL) promotes international collaboration in the field of parliamentary librarianship and information services. The Section has been achieving this through several activities, with a close collaboration with organisations from the LAC Region.
Over the last years the IFLA Management of Library Associations Section (MLAS) has followed a strategy to engage closely with the regions of the world: Asia/Oceania, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, Middle East and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa and North America.

IFLA’s Management and Marketing Section, in collaboration with IFLA’s LGBTQ+ Users Special Interest Group, is pleased to invite you to submit your paper proposals for our upcoming satellite conference titled: « ‘The Library is open’: creating safe working environments for LGBTQ+ library employees and marketing supportive LGBTQ+ services »
IFLA’s Governing Board met online on 27 February 2023, with a strong focus on continuing to deliver on the Plan for Securing IFLA’s Future, and to provide direction and guidance to the Federation over the coming months.
With key copyright decision-makers meeting this week in Geneva at WIPO, we are happy to follow up on our report with an overview of country-by-country implementation of the Marrakesh Treaty with an analysis of the data as a whole. This demonstrates both the effectiveness of international action in driving national change, and the fact that most countries have sought to maximise the possibilities created to provide access for persons with print disabilities.
On 13 March, elections open for key posts across IFLA. Following a great response to our call for nominations, there is a strong set of candidates committed to the future of our Federation and ready to take IFLA’s work forwards.
The IFLA Library Buildings and Equipment Section, in collaboration with the Bibliotheek De Krook, is excited to host a satellite conference in Ghent prior to the IFLA World Library and Information Congress 2023 in Rotterdam.
Congratulations to the editors and authors of the IFLA Professional Report No. 137, titled "The Government Information Landscape and Libraries" on receiving the 2023 Margaret T. Lane/Virginia F. Saunders Memorial Research Award from the American Library Association, Government Documents Roundtable (ALA GODORT).
A strong team of IFLA representatives attended the 9th African Regional Forum on Sustainable Development, held in Niamey, Niger. Through their presence, they were able to build links and advocate effectively for libraries both with regional and national leaders.
Following our participation in the UNESCO Internet4Trust conference, IFLA has now submitted comments on UNESCO's draft Guidelines on Platform Regulation. In addition to welcoming the balance found in the document, we also propose improvements, including readier recognition of libraries' role in a healthy internet.
From 13-17 March, the World Intellectual Property Organisation’s lead body focused on copyright – the Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights – will meet in Geneva. Key discussions include the presentation of a toolkit on preservation, and discussions on facilitating cross-border working. IFLA will be there to represent the needs and interests of libraries.
Information is a key condition for development, in particular the face of crises. As an IFLA side-event at the African Regional Forum for Sustainable Development underlined, this makes libraries – if properly supported – into key players in providing a response to the challenges Africa faces today.
The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) has recently published the results of a midterm review of The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030).
The 4th edition of the IFLA Guidelines for Library Services to Prisoners have been endorsed by the IFLA Professional Council!
