Summit 1
During UNESCO’s Memory of the World conference in September 2012 in Vancouver, Canada, the process of looking at the preservation of digital material was launched. This initiative was further strengthened by the publication of the Vancouver Declaration in January 2013. The session will take a closer look at how to make the Declaration a reality.
Furthermore the disaster reconstruction work of UNESCO and IFLA will also be presented, focusing on the devastation in Mali and the work IFLA is undertaking to establish a written cultural heritage risk register.
The session will also provide an update on the World Digital Library and the Memory of the World programme, highlighting some of the great achievements these two important programmes have made in the last year.
