UN High-Level Political Forum 2024

The biggest event on in the annual SDG calendar, the High-Level Political Forum is an opportunity for taking stock of progress towards the goals of the United Nation's (UN) 2030 Agenda, sharing innovations, and identifying priorities. IFLA will have a delegation made up of librarians from every world region, sharing stories of how libraries deliver development, and engaging with governments.

Focus on Impact – Session 5: Redefining the Library Experience

Location: Online

“Libraries are continually evolving how they engage with users to make the most impact within their communities. Recently, this has included a renewed emphasis on proactively shaping experiences around library spaces, programming, collections, and staff development” (Connaway et al., 2023). These words open,  Redefining the library experience: Findings from the 2023 OCLC Global Council survey. The findings from this report are based on a global survey from the library community, and included all library types. In total, more than 1600 responses were collected from respondents located in approximately 77 countries/territories. Dr. Connaway will discuss the findings and implications. Please join us for this insightful and thought-provoking presentation.

July 2024 Professional Council Meeting

Location: Virtual

IFLA’s Professional Council (PC) is responsible for the guidance of the Professional Structure, as set out in IFLA’s Statutes. The Council supports the work of the IFLA Professional Units and their Officers, including publications and guidelines, and the development of toolkits, policy and initiatives. The PC liaises with the Regional Council in areas of mutual interest and identifies opportunities for collaboration. The Council also establishes procedures for organising the professional content of IFLA’s Congress programme (WLIC), including satellite conferences.

July 2024 IFLA Governing Board meeting
